If you are like most business owners, the success or failure of your enterprise is always on your mind. Your business is a part of you, it is constantly with you, and it affects how you think and act. Even when you are not at the office. As an entrepreneur, your personal and business goals are inseparable.
We are small business management consultants who help our clients get more out of their businesses and their lives. We understand the complexities of owning a small business because we’ve been there and we know we can help every owner and CEO meet their personal and business goals.
As trusted advisors, we also understand that we are not the right fit for everyone or every business. For you to get a better idea of how we do business and whether we’d be a good fit for each other, the following are some potential drawbacks of working with us. Drawbacks may be too strong a word but, in the interest of transparency, we want to put it all out there and let you decide.
We’re small in number.
There are only two Eures at Eure Consulting. We do all the research, preparation, and delivery on our own. Because we do all of our client work ourselves it limits the number of clients with whom we can work at one time.
We get personal.
We like to really get to know our clients and everything about them. That means learning about their personal lives and goals in addition to their professional ones. You are a complex individual and it is impossible to separate out the professional from the personal in your life. Therefore we need to see your life and business from every
angle. We want to help you get what you want out of your business so we need to know all of your goals in life, including the ones outside of work.
We don’t do.
You are the hero of this story, we are just the guide. We can teach. We can train. But you have to do. If you are not committed to and willing to put in the work then nothing will change. Our goal is to give you the tools you need to run your business smoothly and efficiently. You must take it from there and be the change agent your business needs you to be to ensure your continued success. We are more than willing to help, to revisit subjects, to spend more time explaining, to work alongside you, but we can’t do it for you. We have had to “fire” clients before because they were unable, or unwilling, to put in the work necessary to implement what we shared.
What we teach is not rocket science, but it does take work to put into place. We’ll need your time, focus, and commitment for you to create the change you desire.
Because we are not the ‘doers’ our goal is not to have a client for life. Instead, our goal is to create self-sustaining businesses that have the tools and talent they need to run successfully without us.
We use Behavioral Science.
We use assessments to help everyone at your company understand who they are. It’s a starting point for growth, understanding, communication, and teambuilding. We find assessments essential in creating a high-functioning organization.
The assessments will undoubtedly give you a greater understanding of yourself and those around you. Some find this self-awareness to be uncomfortable. The assessments will lay out all your strengths and all your weaknesses, right there in black and white. The goal, of course, is not to dwell on these issues, but rather to find ways to improve or mitigate them. You have to be prepared to be transparent, to bare your soul in the name of growth. This will allow you to build a team that complements you.
We will not hold back in letting you know how to be a better leader. This may require you to give up doing some aspects of your work that you really love. The goal is to make your work life better and to help your company run more smoothly and effectively. This means you have to understand that you are not superman or superwoman. There will be some things that you are doing now, things that you may even enjoy doing, that someone else can do better and more efficiently. Part of our process is to help you build the right team around you. A team that allows your strengths to shine and minimizes your challenges.
We are People First.
Our goal is to build people first companies. That means that we see employees first as individual human beings and second as workers. In order to be a good fit, you too have to be ready to put your employees first in every way and to do what’s right by them. They are your most important asset and need to be treated as such. After all, the only true difference between you and your competitors is your people.
This does not mean it is all just sunshine and rainbows with no consequences for inferior performance. Our people first model is based on accountability and results. We believe that by holding people accountable you help them become their best selves. It also means that some people are not a match for your organization and would be happier working for someone else. You are putting them first by helping them find a role to which they are better suited.
If you’d like to learn more about us and further understand whether we’d be a good fit, we reserve one a day month for a meeting with a CEO. The day is spent hearing out their issues and problems and offering some solutions. Other than the investment of your time, it is a free day for us to get to know each other better. No strings attached. And we guarantee that you’ll leave with at least one actionable piece of advice.
